Bach Mai/St. Anthony Project

1st EMT/Paramedic Program coming to Vietnam

Bach Mai Hospital is a multi-field medical facility in Hanoi and is considered one of the largest in Vietnam. Established in 1911, it has played an important role in the health system of Vietnam and currently specializes in internal medicine, training and scientific research.

Through a sister-to-sister relationship with St. Anthony Hospitals, the Bach Mai Hospital Project has been established.  This project will strive to accomplish two goals: to create systemic change in the Vietnamese health care system by providing training to Bach Mai's physicians; and by providing the hospital with current medical equipment and supplies to help care for the poor and underserved in Hanoi and the surrounding provinces.

In January 2009, Dr. Thanh Nguyen started attending the St. Anthony Paramedic Program, with the intent to bring his knowledge back to Vietnam when he finished the program.  In December, Roger Japp, our paramedic program director will be joining Dr. Nguyen to assist in his quest.
